Warehouse system questions
Practical answers before you invest.
The right scope depends on order volumes, service levels, warehouse complexity, users, devices and connected systems.
Ask about your warehouse ↗
What is the difference between a WMS and inventory management software?
Inventory management focuses on what stock exists, its quantity, identity, status and movement. A WMS adds detailed warehouse execution: directed receiving, putaway, replenishment, task allocation, picking, packing, staging, dispatch and workload control.
Can the system support multiple warehouses and different location structures?
Yes. OCTO Ops can represent multiple sites, warehouses, zones, racks, bins, staging areas and virtual locations. Rules can differ by facility, customer, item category, order type or operational requirement.
Can we use barcode, QR and RFID together?
Yes. Barcode or QR is often ideal for deliberate one-at-a-time transactions, while RFID may add value for rapid counts, bulk capture or automated control points. We recommend technology according to each workflow rather than forcing one method everywhere.
Can it integrate with our ERP, accounting or e-commerce platform?
Yes. OCTO Ops can exchange master data, orders and verified warehouse transactions through appropriate APIs, EDI or scheduled data exchange. We define system ownership, error handling and reconciliation before implementation.
Can it support 3PL warehouses and customer billing?
Yes. The platform can separate inventory and workflows by owner or customer, capture billable handling and storage events, provide customer visibility and create verified inputs for automated billing.
How long does implementation take?
Timing depends on workflow complexity, data quality, integrations, devices and the number of sites. We normally begin with the most critical operating flow, validate it with real users and stock, then expand in controlled stages.
